Coat rack / Shoe bin

The bin was as easy as throwing shoes in (and I like throwing things into things).  The rack on the other hand was a bit hackier, which goes along with the whole "Emily can't do home improvement stuff" theme.  Everything was going so well; I used the leveler and marked holes to drill for the rack.  I drilled the first hole; hammered in an anchor.  I drilled the second hole; oh joy!  I had finally managed to find a wall stud in my apartment (except this time I didn't want to).  So here I am with a big, honking hole (larger than usual to make room for the thicker anchor) drilled all the way back into the wall stud.  At first I thought "oh hey I can still shove the anchor in there", which I tried.  But, you see, my friends... wall anchors operate on the principal of there being space to expand.  And so I reached a point where the screw just couldn't go into the anchor any farther due to its inability to expand inside the wall.  This is when things got (more) retarded.  I suppose one option would have been to move the coat rack over a little and fill in the holes I had just drilled.  But I was too stubborn and wanted to keep it where it was.  So... using Emily logic, I pulled out the offending anchor, cut it in half, filled the stud hole halfway with spackle, shoved the half-anchor in and then screwed in the matching screw.  Boom!  This is why I will never be a surgeon.  I could see myself accidentally removing someone's eyes, dropping them on the ground, slipping on them, and hot-gluing bottle caps to the person's face as a substitute.  Well, at least his eyes would be worth something in the Fallout universe. :|
