Resolutions Recap

Those 2016 New Years Resolutions: How did we do?

Stragglers from 2015:

  • Take cats outside on harnesses -- Check! Although, it could have gone better... maybe there's a way to perfect the process?
  • Cook a meal once a month -- Big ol' nope. I cooked for others a couple times, but definitely not interested in cooking for myself. :-(
  • Go to more Snooze events (and/or game nights) -- Sort of. Definitely hung out at the Snotter more, but not weekly.
  • Take a yoga class -- No, still haven't figured out how to fit this into my life, both time and money-wise.
  • Continue drawing -- Eh, 2016 was a dry year in terms of drawing. Couldn't jump back on the Crock bandwagon and didn't do much water coloring either. I've really been missing Art Nights.
  • Do more climbing -- Not really. Climbing has sort of been pegged as an expensive sport that's not quite worth the money due to (a) needing a buddy and (b) dealing with crowds. Not sure if I'll get back into it or not.
  • Do more camping -- Check! I went on my first backpacking trip ever in 2016 (complete with pooping in the woods).
  • Eat lunch with people at least once a week -- Still nope. Ate a couple times with girls (see below) when the weather was nice, but that didn't stick.

2016:

  • Continue drawing -- I'm going to leave this one open. Very little drawing occurred in 2016, unless you count that friends portraits Hail Mary from the beginning of the year (which I'm not going to).
  • Continue running -- Yes! Did 2 half marathons, the Corporate Challenge, and Tough Mudder.
  • Continue boot camping -- Still trying to go as often as I can.
  • Explore Crock publishing options -- Sadly, no. Barely any new content was generated either.
  • Take a pottery class -- No, not yet. Would love to roll this one over.
  • Travel to yet another country -- Yes! I went to the UK (London).
  • Meet more people (make more friends) -- Yes. In fact, I think I can finally say that I'm starting to build some friendships with girls (which has always been something I've struggled with). 2016 saw a big transition in my social circles. At first it was jarring and stressful, but now I'm more at peace with it. When one door closes, another opens.
  • Explore property buying options -- Yes (I bought a condo)!
  • Make more investments -- Yep. I have a financial adviser now and although it's a bit overkill (since I don't have a lot to invest), it's good to know that I can use her as a kind of safety net.
  • Go to more concerts -- I think so. Nero, Moderat, and Caravan Palace (among a couple others). I even went to a Snap Judgement Live show!
  • Burning Man? -- Not in 2016, but definitely going to try for it in 2017!
