Before You Freak Out

1. Putting all of your cards on the table can quickly turn into an unintended guilt trip

2. When your response to good news is not appropriate (e.g. anger, jealousy), try to mentally shelve that feeling to be dealt with later (either by yourself or by talking to someone about it)

3. Instead of trying to get someone who is very different from you to empathize and see what is helpful for you, ask them directly for what you need; they can always say no
